SUPER SKILLS ELITE TEAM PROGRAM: THE BASICS

Teams will practice twice per week and play games on the weekends.   Our goal is to provide your child with a ‘best in class’ developmental experience. Players are able to tryout to "play up" a grade with prior approval from program director.

Spring, Summer and Fall AAU Seasons:
In an effort to create the most dynamic program possible for your child, we offer 3 seasons of our Super Skills Elite Team Program each year. They are:

  • Spring Season: March - May (10 weeks)
  • Summer Season: June - July (7 weeks)
  • Fall Season: September - October (7 week)

Team Fees: Team Fees: Spring Season ($600, 10 week program), Summer Season ($500, 7 week program), Fall Season ($500, 7 week program)

The fee’s paid for participation in our Super Skills Elite Program are non-refundable once a player has been selected for a team.

This fee covers:

  • 2 practices per week, total of 15 games per season
  • Coaching fees, transportation and stipends
  • Gym rental fees
  • Team supplies
  • Player insurance
  • Player notebook and handouts
  • Tournament and league registrations
  • Team training equipment (Balls, Bags, Carts) and medical supplies
  • Program administration

Additional One-Time Gear Fee: $150. This fee includes a Uniform, Shooting Shirt, Hoody, Player Notebook, and Backpack.   This is a one-time fee and only applicable if the player needs these items.

Travel Costs: Players and their parents will be responsible for costs not included with their team fee, namely: travel costs (gas) for local tournaments, food and drink while traveling; lodging for overnight stays in additional to AAU travel tournaments, and airfare for National level tournaments.

Weekly Practice Sessions: Each team practices twice per week. In an effort to make things as simple as possible, we have tried to develop a consistency about our practice times. Detailed practice times are listed on the right. Each Super Skills Elite practice is a highly organized skill development session. We plan every drill down to the basic details, with 95% of each practice focused on skill development. This is not a 'throw the balls out and let them scrimmage' for 2 hours type program! We find that a talented player that has been trained specifically over an extended amount of time and is fundamentally sound has a serious advantage over another player.

  • Daily practice topics include:
  • Detailed Character Building
  • Dynamic Warm-up and Stretch
  • Athleticsm/Quickness work
  • Footwork
  • Ballhandling
  • Passing and Catching
  • Shooting Mechanics
  • Transition Play and Moves
  • Pressing and Trapping
  • Moving without the ball
  • Man to Man Defensive Concepts
  • Position Specific Skills
  • Rebounding and Toughness
  • Team concepts and strategy

2019 Summer Tryout Dates and Times:

WHAT IF I PLAY ANOTHER SPORT

As a program, we absolutely encourage kids to play as many sports as they can…as long as they can.  Our program encourages this and you should know that your multi-sport athlete is more than welcome in our program. We understand that there will be practices and games that they will miss.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

There is a reason they built the school before the gymnasium.  All players participating on a Super Skills Elite Team will be required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Our program places great emphasis on maintaining good grades while participating in our basketball program.  Players are required to provide their coaches with a copy of each quarter’s report card. This copy and the player’s grades will be maintained by the director and will be held confidential.  Exceptions to our 3.0 requirement are made for players with with specific learning challenges or situations.  Our goal is to help!

OUT OF STATE TOURNAMENTS

Super Skills Elite does travel annual to Los Angeles during the Spring and Las Vegas during the summer.  Our goal is to keep travel costs to a minimum, but also to expose our players to competition outside of the state.  Information on those travel tournaments are found on our Spring and Summer program information pages.
