EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, PHIL GALVIN

Executive Director Phil Galvin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Super Skills program.  A native of the Bay Area, he was an All-State performer in basketball at Antioch High School. He played collegiately at Santa Rosa Junior College before accepting a Division I scholarship to Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. It was at ‘The Mount’ that he played for legendary coach Jim Phelan, one of college basketball’s all time winningest coaches.  He was selected to the Northeast Conference All-Newcomer team and was named NEC player of the week 3 separate times.

After graduation, he began his coaching career at The University of San Francisco.  He spent 5 years as an assistant coach at USF a was a part of the 1998 NCAA tournament staff. He then spent 20 years working as the Basketball Director at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, which is one of the finest private athletic clubs in the world. Considered one of the nations top skill development instructors, Coach Galvin launched Super Skills Basketball in 2003. It’s programs, ranging from camps and clinics to Elite level AAU teams, served over 3000 kids annually at it’s peak.

Galvin, 46, moved to the Portland area to serve as the General Manager at VillaSport, overseeing all opening operations. He later served as the Athletic Director at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

‘I am extremely excited to offer a high quality skill development program in multiple sports here in the Portland area. Teaching character through the platform of sports is my true passion. I believe there is a huge need for a program in which players can received detailed instruction within a positive framework.’
